Ross Seal

Ross Seal

Description:
The Ross seal is the smallest kind of arctic seal, measuring around 2.4 m in length and weighing 204 kg. Its head and muzzle are wide and short, its eyes are wide set and its whiskers are shorter than those of any other seal. Its front flippers are quite long at approximately a fifth of its body length. It has a dark grey back, which becomes a paler silver towards its belly. Many brown stripes originate around its eyes and follow the lines of its body.

Pups:
Pups are born between November and December.

Status:
Human beings have never hunted the Ross seal.
