All the pools at the SRRC contain tap water with added salt. To be able to keep this water clear, the SRRC has three large computerised water purifiers. They are completely isolated from each other and have a combined capacity to clean 230.000 litres an hour. Every outside pool has a buffer tank with a capacity that is equal to that of the entire pool. The tank is used to store the dirty water. After filtering the water, for instance through sand or carbon filters, it is pumped back into the pools. This system allows the same water to be used over and over again, thus saving considerably on tap water costs. Total capacity of the seal-pools and buffer tank is more than 500 cubic metres (17.657,33 cubic feet).
