May break is a success
Luckily, the seals were not affected by the cold during the May break and were happily playing and swimming in the outdoor pools. This year again, many visitors found their way to the SRRC. The visitors centre was especially popular on Ascension Day! Everybody could see that the ample 30 animals were being lovingly cared for and rehabilitated. Most of the animals at the centre at the moment are almost heavy enough to be released. During the May break, we were able to return several seals back to their natural habitat!
We also had a nice treat for the children. For €1,- they could buy a token and think up a name for a seal. Hundreds of names were thought up. From these, we chose a really good one: Eyalama! This name was thought up by Helen Akayo. In the language she speaks (Ugandan) this means thank you. Naturally, this is very fitting. We would also like to say thank you to all the people who have become a regular supporter or who have helped the SRRC in some other way. We really need this support! The common seal’s birth period has almost started, and this means that sadly this may mean the arrival of many motherless young seals again. Would you like to help us rear these animals to become healthy adults? Then please become a regular SRRC supporter!05-20-2010 Source: SRRC Lenie 't Hart
