Make your own message bag
On Saturday, May 8th, at 12.30 PM, in Pancake restaurant Dubbel-Op in Lelystad, Lenie ’t Hart will be giving the starting signal for the first in a series of workshops on making bags from roaming fishnets that litter the sea. There is a huge pile of old fishing nets, which have formed a mountain in the SRRC’s back yard. Fishermen have lost these nets in the sea and they cause much suffering among fish, birds and sea mammals, because every net goes on catching things, even though it is no longer attached to a ship. You are very welcome to come and join the beginning of this new project by Irma and Arie van der Mee.
After 15 years of support and cooperation with SRRC Lenie ‘t Hart, by campaigning in Pancake Restaurant Dubbel-Op, adopting seals and volunteering, a very special project has now been started in Lelystad. Irma has hatched the plan herself to make bags, message bags in particular, from old discarded fishing nets.

It’s in the name: a bag for shopping, but also a bag which carries a special message:
“A clean and safe environment for people and animals”

With the workshops and by selling the bags, Irma hopes to bring the bag to people’s attention. The sale of these unique message bags starts on Saturday, May 8th too.
You can choose to come to see the go-ahead and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink, but you can also follow one of the workshops.
A workshop costs € 29,50 pp. and includes drinks and food.
The message bags cost € 35,-- and € 39,50 and part of the sale of each bag will go to SRRC Lenie ’t Hart.
If you want to come and see the go-ahead or follow one of the workshops, please let us know by sending an email to dubbelop@planet.nl or by calling 06 22801391.
