Heart warming reactions
Fantastic, the way the Dutch population responds when help is needed for our seals. Within a minute of Lenie ’t Hart’s plea for bathtubs, towels, volunteers and money on Radio 538, she received a call from a man offering a Jacuzzi. From that moment on, the calls didn’t stop.
At the moment the score is: a promise of 102 bathtubs (including two Jacuzzi’s), removal company Mast in Groningen has offered to deliver the bathtubs to Pieterburen free of charge, a man on a trike-bike brought over a flight-case bathtub, handymen and women have offered to help as volunteers, piles of towels are being carried in and luckily we have also received many financial donations.
We are very thankful for these spontaneous reactions. It shows that people are concerned about the fact that there are many more sick seals being found along the coast this year than ever before. Their lungs are being destroyed by parasites (lung worms), which causes shortness of breath. Fantastic that so many people are helping us help these lung worm patients.
