The sequel

Early onThursday morning a report came in of a seal swimming along the Snakkebuorren in Workum. The report sounded so serious and the location so promising that a large team of SRRC workers hurried full tilt to Workum with a car full of trap nets.
Unfortunately, this was a bit optimistic. Even though three reliable reports had confirmed the presence of the seal in Workum between 9:00 and 11:00 AM, at noon there was not trace to be found. Dredging activities that were taking place near the lock where the seal had last been seen must have scared the animal away. The catch had to be postponed and the employees went back to Pieterburen.
By the end of the afternoon, the harbour master of Hindeloopen called. He had been asked to pay extra attention and he called to say that he had just heard that someone had seen a seal in the marina that afternoon.
That will be the starting point for our search tomorrow.02-19-2009 Source: SRRC Lenie 't Hart
