Barbie dolls and seals in Amsterdam

The annual Barbie and Fashion Doll collectors show, ‘Barbie in Amsterdam’, took place in Amsterdam on Sunday, October 26th. It included a huge lottery of which the proceedings were donated to the SRRC Lenie ‘t Hart for the third year running. Every year, ‘Barbie in Amsterdam’ adopts a couple of seals this way.

We are very thankful for this gesture, because during ‘Barbie in Amsterdam’ an amount of €1.100,- was collected for our seals. The organization would like to support the seals again next year. And 2009 will be a special year, because Barbie will be celebrating her 50th birthday and ‘Barbie in Amsterdam’ will be celebrating their 5th anniversary. The more ‘Barbies’ swimming around in the Wadden Sea, the better! “The choice for the SRRC was simple for us” explains Anneke from the organization. “When I visited the SRRC for the first time in 1993, I soon found out what a fantastic group of people this is, and especially how important and necessary the SRRC is for the preservation of these beautiful animals for the future. We have much admiration and deep respect for the fantastic work that Lenie and her workers have been carrying out for the seals all these years.”
