“I have the right to make stuff up”
In the programme “De Leugen regeert” (the lie governs) column writer Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer’s accusations were all swept away. In his article in the NRC paper, he claimed that an SRRC employee had told him that they went out with speedboats in order to disrupt the seals on the sandbanks and get baby seals in the SRRC, because otherwise there would not be enough visitors.

Lenie ’t Hart called his allegations completely ridiculous.
“We are a hospital. Do you know any nurses who go out on a moped to run down old people in order to have patients to look after? We don’t even have boats, there always are seals and we would much rather have fewer seals in rehabilitation.” Above all, she refused to believe that Pfeiffer had received this information from an employee, because it simply is not true.

Pfeiffer tried to carry it off as a column written only for the purpose of provoking thought about some issues, but Lenie and presenter Felix Meurders pointed out to him that the NRC had not published his piece as a column but as an article.
That misled the media as well as the supporters and has placed the SRRC in a bad light. Lenie hopes that the seals will not become the victim of all this.
