After a recuperation period of a couple of months, the day has finally come: The three adopted seals Janis, Puk and Boyke swim towards freedom in the Wadden Sea. The young seals had lost their mothers and were saved by SRRC Lenie ‘t Hart. The workers at the SRRC lovingly took care of them and made sure they became fit enough to look after themselves again. Because rehabilitating seals is a costly business, the children of swimming club ‘the Water Rats’ organised a fundraising event. They swam laps until they had raised enough money to adopt as many as five seals. Because of that, they were allowed to name the seals and escort them on the day of their release. People who would like to adopt a seal, become a supporter or make a donation are very welcome. The SRRC is entirely dependent on donations and does not receive any subsidies.
