Seal rehabilitation centre in Canada

Contrary to the awful images of the Canadian seal hunt, we now have some positive news to report about Canada. The University of Prince Edward Island (one of the islands that is home to seal hunters) is starting to rehabilitate seals that have run into trouble around Prince Edward Island.

Unit interiorAlready, permission has been granted for the placement of a unit where several seals can be rehabilitated. Now, we have to make sure that the unit is fixed up with a basin, a plateau for lying on and other facilities so that it can be transported to Canada.
This is the breakthrough: It is the first time in Canada that there is an interest in animal welfare besides seal hunting. Even though, initially, this will only bring relief to a few animals, still, it may have huge impact on the changing opinions about seals and their situation.

The people who will be staffing the rehabilitation unit have already followed a course in seal care at the SRRC.

However, we do have one problem: we need money in order to kit out the rehabilitation unit. This is why we would like to make the following appeal: Please help the seal rehabilitation in Canada.
