Football star Kevin Hofland has been sponsoring the SRRC for years. He donates a substantial amount each year. We are so thankful for his help that every year we offer him a seal to adopt. Prior seals were all named after Kevin and members of his family, including his sons Dylan and Milan. Last Saturday, Kevin visited Pieterburen with his family to meet ‘Feyenoord’, this year’s adoptive seal. He was accompanied by a television crew belonging to TV- Rijnmond. For viewers at home, they recorded Kevin and seal-carer Marrije’s visit to the seal in the quarantine area.
However, the most important part that Saturday afternoon was reserved for Kevin’s sons Dylan and Milan: They were allowed to accompany Marrije – fully kitted out in protective work clothing – to feed the seals in one of the basins. It was difficult to see who got the most pleasure out of this; the children or the proud father. In any case, the seals and their carers are very happy with the football hero’s support.
