Friday the thirteenth turned out to be a lucky day for Ruben; along with seven other grey seals he was released on the beach in Terschelling. This was not only a memorable moment for the seals but also for the SRRC, as it was the hundred and fiftieth seal to be released back to sea this year. Never before have so many seals been rehabilitated and released so early in the year. It is even more rehabilitations than during the whole of last year. The storms around the turn of the year caused an influx of baby seals. The SRRC had to pull out all the stops to be able to rehabilitate so many animals.

With extra tents, extra manpower and luckily also with the help of many supporters and companies we were able to keep almost all the animals alive. Most of those victims are already strong and healthy and swimming in the Wadden Sea again.
