Adoption Possibilities

You can have first hand involvement in the SRRC’s work. Adopting a seal is a very special way to help with a seal’s rehabilitation. There are two ways to go about adoption:

Exclusive adoption
All seals that are rehabilitated at the SRRC in Pieterburen are given a name. These names are given to them by, among others, their adoptive ‘parents’. So, as an adoptive parent, you get to name ‘your’ seal. You will also receive a letter that lists your seal’s details, along with an official adoption certificate. Of course, as an adoptive parent, you are always welcome to visit your seal. You are also welcome to contact the SRRC at any time to inquire after the seal’s progress. The cost of an exclusive adoption is € 500,- in a one-off payment. This provides the seal with care such as medication, research and food. After a stay of 3 to 5 months, the seal, if fully recovered, will be released back into the wild. You will be invited to attend this ‘beautiful day’, to which you may bring along one or two guests.

Symbolic adoption on the spot
If, during your visit to the SRRC, you see a seal that you really like, you can adopt it symbolically by donating € 50,-. We will give you an adoption certificate on the spot and when the seal is released into the Wadden Sea, we will take a nice picture just for you, which you will receive by post.

For questions regarding the adoption of a seal, you can ask one of the SRRC workers at the centre, or you can call us on the following number: 0595- 526 526. Of course, you can also e-mail us at: info@zeehondencreche.nl

Exclusive ‘room’ adoption.
Several different rooms in the SRRC are used to rehabilitate the seals. The quarantine rooms are like hospital rooms. You can sponsor such a room exclusively for a whole year for € 5.000,-.
As thanks for your financial support:

  • we will display your company logo (or name) clearly visible near the room,
  • you will be mentioned on our website and in the Seal Bulletin, our supporters’ newsletter,
  • you may use the SRRC logo on your website,
  • you will receive four quarterly newsletters with information about the seals that are being rehabilitated in your room at that moment,
  • a delegation from your company will be able to release a seal back to the wild,
  • you are always very welcome to visit the seals in Pieterburen,
  • it will make your employees feel good, which is priceless!
If you are interested in this and want more detailed information about exclusive ‘room’ adoption, please contact us on the following phone number: 0595 – 526 526.
